Completing your Press Release template.

• Click Generate and a PDF Press Release will automatically download with a card image. This is an editable PDF with one field available for you to complete with your group's mission statement.
• Click the highlight fields button at the top of the Form to complete the quote with your mission statement in the space available.

Distributing your Press Release.

• The first and best place to post your release is on your own website. Try to place the release in a prominent position on your homepage. Use a photo of the card.
• The second best place to post your release is as an e-mail to your supporters. Consider sending the release as an attachment to a personal cover letter from a key leader in your organization. Tell your supporters that you want to be sure they hear the news first.
• Approach your local and regional newspapers, web sites, radio stations, and other media directly. Be sure to keep your members and supporters in mind. Always ask, "Where do our supporters look for their news and information?" Then go where they go. Always try to send the release to someone specific rather than a blind inbox.
• If you want broad distribution for your release, consider using a professional service like PR Newswire (www.prnewswire.com), BusinessWire (www.businesswire.com) or PRWeb (www.prweb.com). These companies charge for their service and may require you to become a “member” before issuing your release. Generally, you can select a specific geographic or "area of interest" distribution.
• Finally, do not overlook the trade and industry publications that serve your industry. There are probably several. Send the release directly to these publications. Editors at these publications usually welcome inquiries from the readership.
